Interviewing
Thank You Notes
Writing a thank you note after an interview is crucial. This is not only a great chance to remind your future employer of your skills and qualifications but also allows you an opportunity to mention something you didn't get a chance to discuss. In addition, you can give recognition and thanks to the people who took the time to interview you.
Here are some tips:
- You want to write the note immediately after the interview before the decision is made. Make sure names and titles are correct.
- Emailed Thank You’s are becoming increasingly popular and they are acceptable. A hand-written thank you does stand out and could separate you from other candidates.
- Your note should not be generic so include details from your interview that pertain to the person you’re addressing.
- Highlight parts of your interview and restate your skills that are relevant to the position. This is a great opportunity to correct any mistakes you made in the interview.
- State what it is you like about the company, the position and why.
